Great bag for every day use.

Good but some minor changes would make it great

I'm probably the only person in the world that remembers (fondly) the Chrome briefcase from probably around six years ago. People didn't seem to like it much, but I still use mine because sometimes you just don't need the messenger bag, and during Summer when you're not wearing an overcoat, it's kind of a pain with a silk tie getting worn against the strap. Anyway, I bought this as a replacement briefcase. First, I like the fact that this bag doesn't rely on velcro. Sometimes I don't want the loud velcro opening sound echoing around a quiet courtroom. I also like the backpack option, though I wonder: if the bag is heavy enough for me to use the backup option, is the bag robust enough to handle the extra weight? I do agree with others who've said that the handle is thin and doesn't seem to have the usual heavy duty stitching to the bag we've come to expect from Chrome. As far as size: If you sometimes need to carry larger files with your computer, you do need a backup bag. I find that it's nice to have the smaller size bag when you're not carrying much because it's light and compact, but the smaller capacity of this bag is obvious. Pockets are nicely organized on inside, though I agree the outside pocket could be larger. It really won't hold anything other than a passport, keys, change, etc. Finally, while it's advertised to hold a 15" laptop, I have a 15" laptop that really replaces my desktop, and it is actually too thick to allow me to place inside the padded compartment and zip it up. Overall, it's sleek, compact and looks good (though I agree having all the clips and d-rings made of plastic does detract somewhat from the appearance), and I also have to see if the plastic will hold up to years of wear like the metal has on all my other Chrome bags. All in all, a nice purchase, but don't expect it to be your go-to every day just toss everything in bag unless you never need to carry large files or a thick laptop

    Almost, but not quite.

This bag had so much potential. Here are the four missing aspects that would make it perfect: 1) An additional handle at the top for when it's in backpack mode. 2) Metal hardware throughout. 3) Lash strap attachment points along the bottom of the bag for storing your sweater or mid-layer while commuting into in the office. 4) The front pocket should cover most of the front of the bag!! * #4 is probably the most frustrating. Only including such a small pocket along the front of the bag is a HUGE missed opportunity for more storage. If Chrome updates this bag with a second iteration and adds the features mentioned above, it'll be a keeper!

The only chrome bag I need

This bag has been great all around. I have been using this bag everyday and I love it. I can hold my surface pro and a couple of notebooks with chargers for both laptop and phone. The only downside I have is that when I carry too much weight the plastic hardware squeaks. But it doesn't happen often.
