Hail to the Vale. A small sling that fits a 13" laptop. Kind of a big deal.

  • Laptop sleeve fits 13" Macbook Pro
  • Messenger style with EVA back panel
  • Polyester/600d Twill melange fabric
  • Built for commuting by train, bus, bike or plane
  • A Bag Built for the City

We challenged ourselves to create a small sling bag that could carry a 13” laptop. The result was the Modal Vale, a seriously cool sling that uses compression straps to transform like Voltron. Only carrying a laptop and some notebooks? The Modal Vale lays flat. Bringing along a light jacket or some gym clothes? As it fills up and the compression straps expand, the Modal Vale increases in volume and capacity. It’s a small sling that’s got some big ideas.

  • Great, roomy sling bag!

The shape and design are a little different from the other bags but makes sense once you start to use it. Inside, it's got around the same space as you'd find in a small backpack with room for a small laptop or large tablet. There's three main zippers: a small front pocket, access to the main compartment, and then a rear pocket that you'd probably put flatter items in. All are easily accessible and can store a decent amount of items. There's straps on the front that you can undo to both stretch the bag out if you're putting more stuff or you can use to secure a folded/rolled-up jacket or even hold an umbrella. There's an extra strap that helps secure the bag to the main strap so that if you bend over or lean over the bag doesn't move from the back to the front. Overall, a good sling bag if you carry a lot of items or need that extra room. Recommended.

Good sling bag for those needed a decent amount of space.

The design looks a little different from some of their other sling bags but it makes sense once you start using it as it's a good balance of form and function. It's roomy for most things including a small laptop or your standard tablet. The straps on the front help expand the bag if needed (works for me since I bring a mirrorless camera with a large lens) and then also to secure a folded up light jacket or even a monopod or umbrella. The extra strap helps secure it so it's not moving around a lot. My only gripe is it doesn't come in black. Recommended.

    Really wanted to like this.

I've been using chrome bags for years now. I used to be a bike messenger in San Francisco when I was younger. This bag just do live up to the quality standards I expect from chrome. I haven't even had this bag for a year and the buckle is breaking. Why did this not get the seat belt buckle the chrome is famous for? I wish I could return it for a classic messager bag.

Not for me, maybe for you.

The construction quality is high, but the design for this sling was just too awkward to ride with. It sits somewhere between what I would call a sling and a messenger bag and (imho) doesn't do either of those things well. Would rather use my actual messenger, or my actual sling.

Cool bag, needs some tweaks to be awesome

Great bag, lightweight and cushioned for comfort, but as the other reviewers have said, there's no seatbelt buckle and no U lock holster. I wish the cross body strap could be adjusted with a tightening system instead of velcro, and the extra strap was adustable along the cross body instead of fixed.
