First off, I'm mostly new to the backpack game and I don't have the typical city commuter needs that most Chrome users have. I bought this pack for weekend purposes and as an accessory to my hardshell carryon to keep the necessary stuff handy (books, gadgets, games, books, change or two of clothes). The pack itself is fairly firm and sturdy, and the rectangular shape takes well to making the most of 18L. I can fit 2 individually rolled changes of clothing, swimming trunks, small dopp kit, gadget case, several books in the laptop sleeve, and still probably have enough room for a several snacks or a camera. I think as a weekend pack/daypack it's perfectly suited for its intended use, but I need less of a bag to accompany a carry on well and more of a bag to go without a carry on for longer trips, unless I'm really good at minimalist packing (I'm not). The internal organizer consists of a phone sized pouch, two pen pockets and a D ring on a fabric loop. This is integrated into the laptop sleeve. Behind that is velcro for a larger pocket the size of the whole back. This pocket contains a "stiffener" that could be removed and replaced with one or two full sized notebooks. On the front of the pack, the quick access pocket is about 6" deep and, yes, can be accessed from inside or out. The straps and back panel seem to be comfortable, but I only have initial impressions and no experience. My only real gripe is that since the fabric is so rubbery and stiff, running the zippers isn't as quick as most, but that's just the drawback to being both waterproof and tough as nails.
