The Cardiel Shank

Product # BG-139-BK-NA

  • Designed with skate legend, John Cardiel
  • Easy access U-lock holster
  • 1" belt for on-body comfort
  • 1050d nylon outer
  • No-nonsense hip bag/crossbody sling
  • A Bag Built for the City

The smallest entry in the Cardiel x Chrome Collection, the Shank is ideal for bumming around town on bike, board or otherwise. Originally designed by Cardiel to be a companion piece to the Fortnight backpack for after he dropped his heavy stuff at the hotel, the Shank took on a life of its own as a no-nonsense hip bag/crossbody bag that folks rocked on the daily. It's got a barebones but functional interior org pouch, a coated, weatherproof zipper and is built like our messengers with a tough ass nylon outer and a military-grade tarpaulin liner. The Chrome x Cardiel Shank - Tougher than the Rest.

    • Integrated internal key loop
    • Can definitely hold at least 3 beers

  • I'd buy this product again if they update the strap.

Would have been five stars but I can't get past the strap it's designed to be flexible as a crossbody and a fanny pack but the strap feels a little cheap and comes loose ALOT even with the elastic fasceners in place to hold the strap. It loosens up all the time. I'm probably going to have to either sew the strap so it stays put or get more, stronger elastics to hold everything in place. Also no instructions for those elastic fasteners so I might not even be using them properly. (I'm not a clever man). Otherwise the bag is awesome the central pocket is tough water resistant as advertised (beer at the pool) and can hold all my pocket junk while I'm riding my motorcycle. But again the strap and the fabric that mounts the strap to the pouch seems a bit cheap.

The perfect daypack, but the buckle is infuriating

Seriously an awesome bag, but you have to pick it up and hold it in juuuuuust the right way, or else the strap loses all of its tightness. I wear this as a crossbody, so maybe it's different as a fanny pack, but wow it's so difficult to keep it tight against my body. Otherwise the size is perfect and the ulock holster is so helpful.

    My go-everywhere pack

Always with me to carry my wallet, phone, keys, field recorder, and whatever else will fit. I wish the straps were a little shorter or that there was a better way to manage excess strap length, as when I tighten the pack around my waist, I'm often left the straps bulging out.

Just what I needed to keep organized and unencumbered.

A great little bag to store my every day riding gear (locks, wrench, lock keys, coozie, bandana) with space left over for my wallet and house keys for when I head out. The extra length on the belt fits well into elastic loops, though expect that you'll end up adjusting the belt every time you put it on as it has a tendency to slip out of place when you're not wearing it. All in all, two thumbs up, would buy again.
