I bought this backpack to use as a carry on for my 7 week stay in the Philippines. I needed to bring two laptops with me and this backpack worked fantastic. I was able to fit both laptops, one 17" and one 15". I put the 15" in the sleeve and the other just in the laptop area. I also fit 3 days worth of clothes and toiletries as a "just in case", phone and laptop chargers, 2 portable chargers for my phone and other small electronics, a large pair of headphones, and all my travel documents and necessary items, and there was still plenty of room left. This thing wouldn't be good at all for commuting because it's just too big for that, but I could easily fit a weeks worth of clothing in this bag if I was travelling with no computers. Even with a laptop, I could probably fit 4 to 5 days of clothes in here no problem. I was hesitant on this because I've never paid this much for a backpack, but I do not regret my purchase at all.

    Good versatile bag

I was looking for a 30L bag to use for work and personal travels (at the same time). I need a laptop compartment that easy to access and don't require me to empty the bag to access it. I need a section that will protect books and A4 folios without getting them crushed if I put something in the bag while catching a train. The summoner has all this with the clamshell design and the separate laptop/A4+ section with its own zip access. The extra organiser pockets in the inner part are great for the work side but since the outmost part is a bit small (4 tshirts, one pair of jeans, couple of socks or underpants) you will probably end up putting your rolled up jacket or hoodie in that part like I did. So ... it might get messy in there. The material and design makes it more stealthy in city and business landscapes which is great for me who can walk from a plane to an office and then back on a train to go see friends. Backpacks are just easy to carry and run with on your back. I do think 30L in this bag are not the same as in my hiking backpack but that will do (it looks smaller). I have tested it with a week worth of clothing and work material and I am quite happy with the result (ok I had access to a washing machine). It takes a bit of time to be using properly the zippers and remember which one is the laptop one etc ... The material is really nice to the touch and looks clean. Stitches, zippers and cuts are very good, really worth the price. The padding isn't as good as some of my hiking bags but they are not made for the same amount of time on your back so I don't think it will be an issue.

Good bag, comes up a little short in a few key areas

I returned this bag. Read on for the pros and areas for improvement. Pros: Loved the size/volume of this bag. Exterior compression straps are a big plus. Multiple external handles. Clamshell design made it easy to pack. Good internal pockets. The design fell short in a few key areas: No external pocket for water bottle Needs a handle integrated into the shoulder straps. No key fob hook/clip. Needs full zipper access to laptop/office organizer. Laptop section needs to be self contained. All of the above should be easy fixes for the Summoner Backpack 2.0.

    Excellent travel backpack

It looks fantastic and gets compliments. But is also low profile. Enough room for a week of travel and no worries about carry on compliance. Also, very funcional.
