Form Meets Function

For our friends in the Great White North who are out getting rad even when it’s ten below. We created a fully waterproof parka that is insulated at 100 grams to keep you warm even when Jack Frost tries to get you down. Side zippers make it easier to sit in the saddle, Chrome Raglan Reveal technology shows off reflective hits when reaching for the handlebars and multiple waterproof pockets keep stuff safe from nasty weather. This is the ultimate wintertime cycling parka.

Side Zip Vents

We talked with our homies in the Great White North about what they wanted in a wintertime cycling jacket. We heard one thing loud and clear. They need a way to keep the temperature regulated without sacrificing on comfort. The side zip vents in the Insulated Storm Parka give you the ability to choose how much ventilation you want while providing added articulation in the saddle. Comments about Storm Insulated Parka:

I bought this jacket on sale in December and wore it in NYC all through the winter and traveled to Europe with it. The bottom side zips are great for adding mobility. Additionally, the zips on the wrists are better than velcro because it's super easy to get your gloves on and off. I do wish there were armpit vents, but that's minor compared to the other features. It's great if you're interested in biking to work in harsher than normal conditions.
Fit: I'm a woman, 5'6" with a small bust. Ordered an XS. This jacket was pretty large in the chest for me and sometimes tight around the hips, depending on the pants I'm wearing. The extra bulk in the chest isn't a deal breaker though.

    Comments about Storm Insulated Parka:

As a person who is naturally sensitive to cold I honestly cannot even tell a difference unless I'm out in weather around the freezing point. I use it for work as my freezer diving jacket and it makes such a huge difference. Weather hasn't permitted bike riding but I'm sure it will do great. Lots of space in the pockets too.

Awesome jacket, let down by lousy zipper.

    Comments about Storm Insulated Parka:

Surprising warm for how light weight it is. A great looking jacket. For sub 30 degree days I can get a down sweater on underneath it and be super toasty. My only complaint, worth a star, is that the zipper is very finicky and it sometimes takes multiple tries to get this parka zipped up.

    Comments about Storm Insulated Parka:

I live in Southern California, and I was planning a trip to Boston in early January. I typically "layer" as most Californians do when we brave cold weather; however, all weather reports indicated we were headed into one of the worst snow storms the East Coast has seen for quite sometime. So I pulled the trigger on this Parka. I have been a long time customer of Chrome Products, but this jackets exceeded my expectations. Completely kept me warm in subzero weather, and I love the look of this parka as well.

great jacket with a possible flaw

    By

    from new york city

    Pros

    • best for biking, winter, rains

    Cons

    • no waist drawstring
    • zipper may break

    Best Uses

    • bike share
    • hiking
    • replacement of wool winter coat
    • walking in the rain
    • walking in the snow

Comments about Chrome Storm Insulated Parka:

I have worn this while biking (awesome idea with the side zippers), walking in the rain and snow (provides ample covering and warmth with layering), and even as a replacement to my wool coat (stylish enough).

i have though a major and minor gripe. the major is the zipper. it takes me at least 3 tries to get it to latch on at the bottom and zip up. i feel that one of these days the zipper will just not latch on and am out of a good jacket.
the other con though minor is i wish there was a inner drawstring around the waist. its fine when i am biking though it would be beneficial when walking as it keeps the warmth in.. if not for these 2 cons, i would have given the jacket a fiver star
