Tough Kicks

When we first made our 415 Workboot we wanted to create a boot that didn't require a long break-in period, one you could bike, skate, walk and ride a motorcycle in. Since then, the 415 has become a favorite of people who like to get rad in style all over the world. The Storm 415 takes the boot one step further, with tough full-grain leather for lasting durability, and our Storm™ breathable waterproof technology to keep your feet dry in ugly conditions. This is a Workboot for all weather.

I love this boot and I will probably by a replacement (or go with the Pro version). I've had my pair for nearly two years and they still function great. The sole has started to separate from the back of the heel (this is just because I take my shoes off by pushing one off by the back of heel).

However, the biggest flaw and one of the only daily beefs I've had is the the Outsole is horrible in slippery conditions. From day one I was slipping and sliding around in rainy pavement. Ice is a no-go. You would think that a waterproof boot would also have good traction, but this pattern on the bottom night be fine for sneakers is horrible for boots. It also wore to near-flat within a month or two of daily use.

Don't get me wrong - I love these boots and would recommend them to friends, but with that caveat. I would love for Chrome to improve this boot's tread, then these would be perfect boots.

This shoe looks beautiful. I wish I could purchase it but you unfortunately don't carry women's sizes nor small enough men's sizes to accommodate.

Comments about Chrome Storm 415 Workboot:

Once I figured out that these run half a size small, I selected the next half size up, and all my fit problems were solved.
Removable insoles (and some of the best insoles ever, BTW); metal-reinforced lace holes; truly waterproof uppers reinforced by rubber toes and heels; and a subdued, stylish look mean I can wear these absolutely everywhere. And I do -- from my bicycle in rainy weather to the recording studio, from the cafe to the nightclub stage.
Break-in time took a little while -- about two weeks of daily wear -- but for a show this sturdy I expect that. Now they're comfortable as can be. And when the weather turns cold and/or wet, they're my go-to shoe. I will wear these from September through May. One of Chrome's best designs.

Comments about Chrome Storm 415 Workboot:

I bought these ~4 years ago at the Chrome hub in SOHO. I wore them off and on, usually for casual stuff, until recently when I started working on a farm. Whether walking on dry, dust farm roads, or trudging through ankle high water and mud, these boots keep my feet sparkly clean. To this day they are only more comfortable, still water proof (water has never leaked through mine), and with a quick clean they can look civilized enough to go to the grocery store.
I didn't buy them at full price, but I'd say they're worth it either way.
The only think I'd recommend is better arch support.
Last but not least, the tongue isn't detached at the sides, so it makes water less prone to leak in, which I think is great!

After wearing them for almost two weeks the rubber strip across the toe started to peel off. This makes me a little unsure of how well they're put together. They do look good, I can say that.

Comments about Chrome Storm 415 Workboot:

I love these boots. Fit great and were comfortable right out of the box (best show experience I've had to be honest), despite my feet being pretty wide. A year and a quarter later, they still feel great. Unfortunately, I just noticed the leather tearing from the rubber on the outside edge of the shoe today and I'm really bummed. It's been over a year, so it's no longer under warranty. I may purchase the 202's in hopes to give them some time to reinforce the 415's along the sides.

Comments about Chrome Storm 415 Workboot:

I try to reserve wearing these shoes for when it rains or doing stuff outdoors in order to prolong the life, and the tread is prone to small slips. Also, the black version runs wider than the brown, which is helpful to know if you plan on wearing them with wool socks.

I bought these shoes about a year ago since I needed something streamlined enough to fit in a pedal cage, versatile enough to handle the rain in the city, and good for the occasional bike camping trip. So far, they've worked out great!

Their versatility really shined when I took them on a rainy trip across Europe. Having a packable, waterproof, stylish, high-top was clutch in keeping my feet dry, warm, and at most carefree while exploring.
