We’re pumped to announce our limited-edition Salvage Collection has hit the shelves. And by limited edition, we mean super limited (as in, we made less than 50 of each bag). If salvage is your thing, or you just want an original bag that’s truly one of a kind, grab yours quick before they’re gone.
So what’s the story with these bags? Our designers started by sourcing pre-existing, unused materials (also known as “deadstock”) from a vendor who recycles vintage military supplies like boots, luggage, and coats. We chose a 1970s era cotton canvas, backed with a silicone coating, that was originally intended as covers for military stretchers (but never used). Canvas is inherently durable and the silicone backing makes the material extra waterproof — the ideal choice for our bags.
Once we found our salvaged canvas, we fixed it up so it could have a second life. The material was prepped and cleaned before we turned it into two of our most iconic designs: the Citizen Messenger Bag and Barrage Cargo Backpack.
We wanted to preserve the character of the salvaged canvas, so each bag pattern was cut and sewn slightly differently. That means no two bags are exactly the same, which is just one of the things we love about this limited-edition release. Shop the Salvage Collection for a unique bag that’s made to last.
