5 QUESTIONS WITH BUCKLEY
Where do you get your inspiration?
Movement, dance, architecture, the feminine in all its manifestations.
What's your favorite piece you've made and why?
This changes regularly, but today, my favorite would be a painting called Madre Y Tierra. It taught me so much new technique and lead me into a fresh realm of narrative and color.
Where did you learn your craft?
I taught myself. I was not initially good at drawing, I just took a sketchbook with me everywhere I went and drew constantly until my visual voice finally clarified itself. Then I followed the voicing to different forms like painting, sculpture and design.
What’s your favorite technique?
My favorite “trick” for painting is sketching directly on the canvas with an eraser before drawing a pencil line. It helps me sketch freely and keep my surface precise while I sort out my idea.
