- I’m working on a touring bike for the spring. I’d like to take more long distance trips on my bike, like some bike camping trips. My everyday bike is a single-speed. I love it, but it’s not ideal for long distance rides on. I need me some gears!

How did you get started sewing and making things?
I come from a do-it-yourself kind of family. Both of my grandmothers worked as seamstresses. In fact, my Grandma Shirley still does alterations out of her home. My mother worked at Levi Strauss before I was born, and is a great sewer and crafter. I don’t remember ever buying Halloween costumes or holiday dresses; instead we went and got a pattern and made them. Even now, I love looking at things and thinking, “Hmm, I could make that for less, and make it better.”
What’s your favorite DIY project?
Well, I really love making cycling caps. I love putting together colors and patterns. However, I’d have to say that the last personal DIY project that I enjoyed was making a frame bag for my boyfriend’s bike last Christmas. I bought the Cordura based off of a picture I had, and it matched perfectly! I have a duffle coat that I’m working on right now. I’m using some beautiful American-Made wool; I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
What Chrome Customs project has been your favorite and why?
Since I’m new to Chrome Customs, I haven’t had many projects yet. I did make a citizen using a cheeseburger as my inspiration. It looks delicious.

Have you encountered any odd #ChromeCustoms bag requests? Has there ever been anything really crazy?
Well, the oddest request so far was for a bullet-proof vest. I sent him to the army surplus store a few blocks away.
What made you want to work at Chrome? How’d you get this gig?
I’m lucky, this job just kind of fell in my lap. My friend Ashley is the store manager here at Chrome MPLS, and my other friend Dan works for Chrome as well. When they were discussing who would fit the position as the Chrome Custom’s seamstress here, they both thought of me. It’s flattering that they both think so highly of my sewing abilities (I’m blushing).
What’s your favorite off-the-shelf Chrome product and why?
Hmmm, I DO love my Krooked x Chrome Citizen but I think I have to say my crusty, stained, stinky-ass pair of old Tobruks. I’ve worn them almost every day for the past four years. Thanks to many sockless summer rides, they’ve developed a smell and they don’t have much tread left, but I can’t bring myself to throw them out! Other than that, there isn’t really anything wrong them. I need to think up some sort of epic, viking-esque funeral for them when they day finally comes. They’ve been a really great pair of shoes.
What keeps you up at night?
Reading. Thinking about traveling. Pinterest. More reading.
Any shout outs?
Thanks to my Boo for always supporting me and helping me with difficult decisions. Shout out to my mom and dad for raising me to be the kind of person who finds beauty and worth in making things with my hands instead of buying them off of a shelf. And thanks to my friends who for some reason like me and want to spend time with me despite how weird I can be. Love all you guys.
