  • The One Show: 2014

Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays Chrome Industries from partying at The One Motorcycle Show in Portland, OR. This was The One Show's fifth year and while motorcycles were making their way into PDX from all over the world, the skies opened up and dumped a blanket of snow on the city the likes of which it hasn't seen in years. But as they say, 'the show must go on,' so we strapped ourselves into our 415s, parked the Chrome Van out front, and partied warmth back into our bodies. Continue reading

  • Dirty Doubles: Chrome Industries' pump-ish track race

    Picture 1

Early December in Portland OR, when the weather forecast calls for 20% chance of rain, it's going to rain. When it calls for 20% chance of snow, it won't. That is unless you're building a pump track in a parking lot to race on. In that case, yes it most definitely will snow. Them's the breaks, baby. Even though a light dusting of snow can shut down the entire city of Portland, it can't shut down the fire in our hearts and the over whelming urge to get rad despite inclement weather. That's why we teamed up with Fat Tire Farm to bring Dirty Doubles to the brave of heart, to the people who laugh in the face of danger, and the people who'd rather be cold and taking sweet jump on some bikes, than snuggled up warm on the couch in front of the TV. A lot of different kinds of people showed up that night and everyone had a common thread besides bikes.... they were all tough as fuck.

  • Rubbin Elbows: The Sub Floor Circuit

What do you say to a one off, one night only, cyclespeedway-ish race on the unused 4th floor above our Chrome PDX HUB other than, "hell yes"? Nothing, you say, "hell yes". When our Chrome PDX crew saw the raw space above the shop they didn't see future offices or downtown loft apartments. No, they saw a race track. Continue reading

  • Custom Military Salvage Program in Chrome HUBs

CHROME ACTIVATES CUSTOM MILITARY SALVAGE PROGRAM FOR VETERANS DAY

Since 1995, Chrome has made bags from reclaimed or salvage materials. When we started making our iconic messenger bag with salvage military duffels and tents the response was amazing, particularly from US Military Personnel who wanted us to make bags using their personal duffels and fatigues. These items carry significant meaning, but can’t be used frequently in civilian life.

Last year US Army Vehicle Commander Jared Morford of Watertown, South Dakota reached out to Chrome to make a Chrome Customs Salvage bag with the duffel he carried to Iraq. Chrome’s Customs Military Salvage Citizen was born.

The Chrome Customs Military Salvage Program invites Veterans and military families to bring their military duffels or fatigues to one of Chrome’s four HUB locations in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Portland. Chrome bag makers will use this material to create a Chrome Custom Citizen Messenger bag.

This program is extremely successful. People have shared their stories with us and we are moved. It reminds us how fortunate we are and how bags carry memories and meaning. One story affected us so much we made a short film:
