Must have all-around short
Love these shorts, super durable can really take a beating! Had two crashes wearing these shorts on asphalt and on wooden docks while riding and stood up to hard falls and slides. Absolutely no holes or tears even when I had my keys in my pocket that would easily have ripped through jeans, khaki shorts or any other fabric for that matter,

Not possible to improve!
These shorts are the real deal. They work for cycling, and look good enough to let you hang out in style at the local watering hole afterward. Just-right length and slightly stretch fabric make them that much better. I have been wearing these almost constantly all summer!

These shorts are the business. Great style and function
I really like these shorts. I'm glad you guys started making shorts. I hope to see more options like this in the future.

Fantastic shorts
I don't normally write reviews, but I've got to say that these are the best cycling shorts I've come across. Light weight, great fit & durable as hell (even after a crash, not a mark). I really hope that Chrome produces another batch of these.

Great Shorts Die Hard.
I’m writing this email after a morning spent showering and scrubbing gravel out of road rash on my leg. I crashed my cross bike on my commute to work, for the second time this month, same leg, and same pair of Union Shorts. Twice in one month on asphalt. Your shorts have held up to the abuse way better than I. In the past I purchased products from fancy cycling boutiques and believed that the high price delivering me some sort of unspoken quality that you couldn’t match. It isn’t true and your product has been the better of all the casual cycling apparel i own. I’m a lifelong believer in your brand now, so thank you very much!

Great pair of Shorts. I just wish they came in more colors and had cargo pockets like the knickers. Other than that they work out great for riding!

Shorts Please!
Ach! Summer is coming, and I have only one pair of these shorts. I might just about die if you don't make more (and another color or two would help). Do you really want that on your conscience? I thought not... Unleash the seamstresses...

I really think you should make more of these.

Dialed on and off the bike.
After using and abusing the original Schoeller fabric knickers and a pair of the Pro Loops, I was stoked to finally get a pair of Union shorts.

I am currently in my ninth straight day of wearing them at the bike shop. In that time, I have also put them through a couple messenger shifts on the road, and thrown them over my kit for several commutes to the velodrome (and yes, I have washed them).

They feel great: they're not too heavy in the sun; they don't cling to your legs in the rain; they charcoal colour doesn't make it obvious that I'm a dirt bag.

As for the length, I'm 5'10" with chicken legs and the bottom hem of the size small shorts fall about 1cm below my knees. Perfect for drinking beers. On the bike, the hem falls above the knee and doesn't get in the way through the pedal stroke.

5 stars!

Skinny for hipsters
I'm 5'10, 165lbs with beefier quads and a 34 waist. Only still wearing these shorts b/c i paid $80 for them and the durability. They are tight fitting and nearly look like man-pris (even tho I love long shorts). Made for riders like the previous reviewer who have chicken legs. Brought a size L. Pros: Durable, compliments on style. Cons: made for hipsters who love skinny jeans.

Old shorts > new ones
I love my olive pair of Union shorts, wearing them as I type this. Nice and thin fabric and a good "short" length for summer. What happened? Longer length and thicker "knickers" fabric now? I noticed the change while in your SF store recently. Please bring back the OG short or make a new line for those of us who like riding in a cool pair of shorts on hot summer days! Thanks ~

best pair of active shorts
I love these shorts. They fit perfectly and feel ultra comfortable. I use them riding, hanging out, for yoga class, everything. They are slick enough to wear easily under another layer. I don't know why another reviewer called them skinny for hipsters, these are great. I've got an athletic bod, with plenty junk in the trunk and thighs, and they are fantastic. Not skinny, but not baggy either, the perfect fit. The pics don't do the butt on these justice, they look fine (I'm told often).

Minimalist for the bipedalist
The Union shorts are lighter and shorter than Chrome's flagship Loop Pro knickers, but perfect for warmer-weather riding, when the Loops can get a little toasty. The pockets are rip-stop nylon mesh, so they won't tear easily and they'll comfortably hold a wallet and a phone. The semi-form-fitting 4-way stretch fabric is wicked: riding a bike in the Unions is pure joy, but Loops are still top of the food chain if you've got the cheddar to fork out.

Not so much ...
I don't know why these shorts received such high praise. The only way you could say these look fashionable is you are over 35. These are seriously the ugliest shorts I have ever worn or seen. Not to mention at 80 dollars these shorts are about three times over priced. There is no excuse in the world to justify the comically high price. Buy yourself a timbuk2 bag and some 40 dollar shorts but pass this up, unless you are trying to look cool for your bikeforum friends.

My new favorite short pants
Just got these in the mail today. I was concerned about fit and length, as S/M/L usually means I'll Be unhappy with some part of the fit. Also, I'm a size 32(ish), so got the medium as I expect the beanpoles to wear the smalls.

I'm a man-shaped man. A bit stocky from my Mexican heritage, so things cut for hipsters usually don't work for me.

Anyways, the shorts fit like they were cut for me. They are snug where they're supposed to be, but feel like I could do yoga in them. They look great, and I feel pretty dang snappy in them.

The color is awesome. Black, but not BLACK black. The stitching looks like it can take a beating, and the Material has just enough give for excellent comfort.

Now my only problem is being too "Chromed out" when I wear it with my hoodie, carrying my Vega!

great short, needs tweaking
I love my Union shorts and wear them often. They're comfortable and durable. They would be a zillion times more useful if they had rear pockets on both sides.

The go to short for urban biking (please tell me these are still being made)
This short is an item I can't live without. It's so practical and perfect for urban biking. They look cool enough to wear out which is great. They hold up well in all weather and really don't need washing very often. (which is a bonus) I am concerned these are discontinued as I've notice Chrome doesn't have any other sizes but XL. I had to order mine from the NYC store. I can't believe they'd stop making these shorts as they are a Chrome staple. If they do I may cryogenically freeze mine. :)

Love these. But when I need them, they're always sold out.
Basic review: they're awesome. Love the material and build. Love the cut and style. Would love a thigh pocket for my phone (when it's down there the phone doesn't stick into the top of my thigh. Or turn sideways when in my back pocket.) Would also love more colors or shades of blue and black. Big complaint: why are they sold out more than half the time???

Good, too long for my style
I've been hunting for a pair for functional athletic biking shorts that isn't spandex. These are almost it. Personally, I would like them a couple inches shorter and just a little bit slimmer. Otherwise great product.

The cat's @ss and the dog's b0ll0cks!
Simply put, these shorts rule (4.5 stars, really)! Fit is spot-on, leg length is perfect, the fabric seems plenty durable and has just enough give for comfort without going all baggy in the butt, and the design esthetics can't be beat. Functional and attractive on and off the bike. Everything I was looking for in a biking short, for the most part. The one area for improvement would be adding a zippered pocket somewhere, though doing so might detract from the looks. Git you a pair!
