Craziest thing. Great looking jacket that is like wearing a colander in the rain.

Great Jacket

Review by Bill

I really like this jacket. I had the original Storm Cobra and I would have to say that this is a big improvement. The jacket is more comfortable overall. It fits a little bit larger than the previous version, but not by much. I live in Portland, Oregon and it rains here... this jacket has been amazing. I have no worries braving the elements in this bad boy. The hood is large and has two different cinches to make sure it fits with or without a helmet. My only complaint would be how tall the collar zips up, but this is a minor complaint at the most.

Nice Jacket- wow it costs a lot of money...

Review by wet willy

I got a small, and fits me decently as a 5'10" (okay 5' 9.5") 150lbs guy. Medium might have been a better choice if I wanted to layer up a bit more, but I was looking for a spring/summer/fall jacket. Seems decently waterproof, maybe a little more 'heavily water resistant." Not super breathable, but on par with what you would expect to get with something as water repellant as this. Shoulder slits allow for riding in a more aggressive position without hulking out of the jacket and longer back keeps my crack relatively hidden. Reflective aspects seemed to have all but disappeared with one wash- nothing a little scotch lite can't fix. I like the jacket, it is well made but expensive- but that is what you expect from Chrome- decent, durable goods that cost more than a mid-level bike frameset.

HONEST REVIEW

Review by Fixiefool

I didn't realize the 2.0 took away the features I loved about the original storm. First off the jacket is heavy, like really heavy. That's not something I want to worry about when riding. I wear a small in the original storm and this small fits more like a medium! The sleeves go way over my arms and the bottom of the coat near the waist fits more like a dress. Why did Chrome get rid of the drawstring tighteners on the bottom? Also getting rid of the armpit zips makes no sense to me, that was one of the best features. I often question whether Chrome is testing their clothing with actual bike messengers, because I showed four messengers here in Portland, Oregon and they all agreed this update is terrible. I really wanted to like this jacket especially since my original storm can't even handle a light drizzle in Portland anymore. I'll stick to your bags.

I love this jacket! Urban bike armor!

Review by Razi

I wanted to have a jacket that I could use for 3.5 seasons. Having a jacket that was waterproof was the most important feature, but the Storm Cobra 2.0 has so much more to offer. I love the pockets! Classic rear pocket to stow away small items when I am biking around the city and the stylish chest pocket. I've found that it can be an excellent winter shell if you layer it correctly depending on the weather. When not riding, I tend to layer it with light to mid weight base layer, merino wool hoodie and if it drops below 20F add a ultra-light down or primaloft mid-layer and you are good to go. As far as the sizing goes, I got a M and I'm 6' & 175lb. It fits snug with my under layers. A Large would fit better if you just wanted to make it your dedicated winter shell. I wanted a 3 season jacket, so I went with the medium because it's more form-fitting. It's little tight in the back when layered but not uncomfortable due to Reveal Raglan openings. Great buy and I would highly recommend making this part of your essential bike gear.

Fave Rain Coat EVER!

Review by MARSH

Now that I have ridden my bike through a legit bout of El Nino rain here in the Bay Area, I can say that this coat is GREAT! Totally worth every penny and ya know what? It's a nice fitting coat, as well; true to size and I wear XXL! There is a slight sauna effect (and I mean slight), but that's to be expected from a truly waterproof coat like this. Also, LOVE the hood! Finally, this coat fills my need for a rain coat that I can wear on and off my bike, and if that's something you can use, then I believe this coat will not disappoint you.

Looks good and kicks ass

Review by Van

Bought this about a month ago before the rain arrived in Portland. It rained for 24 days straight and I commute daily. This is not not only a great looking jacket, it has some serious function and is built to be used for riding but does't look like a commuter jacket. Really happy about with it.

Worth the money

Review by Wade

Great jacket. The hood even fits over my helmet. Sleeves could be just a bit longer, and the left breast zipper is slightly irritating under the strap of my Metropolis messenger bag.

Great Coat, but.....

Review by Jeremy

Love this coat. Keeps you warm and bone dry. The only change I would recommend is that the hood be held on by snaps or a zipper and could be removed and stashed in the back pocket when not needed. It tends to fill up with wind while riding.

Quality jacket, fits well and keeps you dry!

The Jacket fits well and feels good on and off the bike. I have been in torrential rain and high winds and have managed to remain bone dry.
This jacket is very well made and worth the money. Highly recommended!

Great Craftsmanship...HUGE Sizes

Review by MIKET

I own the Storm Cobra 1.0 and thought about upgrading to the 2.0. Upon examination the Cobra 2.0 looks and feels rugged enough to stave off a monsoon. However, when I tried it on in my size (small) the new 2.0 fit like a three-man tent! It felt like I swimming in an Olympic size pool. My Storm Cobra 1.0 fit perfectly as an outer layer, over a t-shirt and hoodie (or flannel shirt), with no excess material dragging me down. I wish you guy made this in an XS (that's where you lose one star).

Huge upgrade

Review by M

Major upgrade from previous shell, combined with a thermal bib base layer 30 - 60 degree weather with nonstop rain for 8 hrs and gets the job done. Also found combining with chrome vest would give an extra layer of warmth.

not worth $200

I bought the original. I paid 200$ never crashed while wearing it and it leaks in several areas.. Not sure I want to spend the money again... It's probably worth sixty bucks.

bomb-proof good looks

Review by Aias aka X

i liked the rugged good lucks of the older chrome storm rain jacket, but there were things that needed to be improved, the main zipper wasn't sealed enough to keep out the heavy rain, and the hood had a tendency of blowing on windy days; thankfully, both these issues were addressed and upgraded in the Storm Cobra 2.0! The rugged good looks are still there but this jacket is now bomb proof. Bring it on rain!
