Awesomeee!

Review by Fay

I've had this bag for about 2 years now. It's been nothing but amazing, especially in rainy conditions. One time I packed it full of groceries and on the way home, I got hit by a car. This bag was so sturdy that it ended up saving me from hitting the pavement harder than I could have. The only two problems I have with it are: size (because I'm a 5'3'' girl and very petite) and it seems that the bag itself isn't very rugged anymore. And I mean the back of the bag isn't very straight anymore, it kinda flops over. Yet, that may be because of all the stress I put it through. I wish they would make mini yalta bags :)

Yalta

Review by Shawn

Awesome bag. I've got the Yalta Night and use it every day for my daily commute. Tons of room for change of clothes, shoes and lunch. Laptop pocket is likely geared to Macs, but fits my chunky 15" Dell. Planning on buying another for my wife for traveling.

Great bag but not 100% waterproof

Review by JC

I've had this for about a year now in NYC and I'm somewhat satisfied with it. There are three compartments: outside small pocket (zippered), main compartment (roll top), and laptop compartment (zippered).

I bought this bag because I always have my 15" Retina Macbook and/or DSLR camera in it. When it rains, water will get into the small outside pocket. The main roll top compartment is 100% waterproof but there are no pockets, etc. for any sort of organization for smaller items. The bottom of this bag is just regular nylon and therefore not waterproof. The laptop compartment comes in contact with the bottom of the bag, making the laptop compartment not waterproof either. That's a pretty huge design flaw for me.

To fix that, I bought a protective sleeve for my laptop and place it in the main, rolltop compartment so that it's safe from any water. It's worth mentioning that it's extremely difficult to get the laptop in the the designated area without scratching it on the zippers.

Another flaw is that you can't fit any large items into the main compartment. Anything that is comparable to a shoe box will not fit because the opening is too narrow. The bag is definitely big enough to fit a shoe box in but forget about that.

Durable and fancy

Very good backpack. I can carry two gallons of milk and not feel the weight on my back. I've always loved chrome products.

amazing bag, I absolutely love Chrome industries and I have had no problems with my Yalta bag. It fits everything I need for school and it also fits other things. Very Impressed with Chrome Industries and I can say I will continue buying from them.

Solid bag, no complaints

Review by Ethan

I've used my Yalta daily for the last 4 years for school, domestic travel (road trips, academic conferences, etc.), and a 6-month study abroad trip to NZ. The bag has never let me down and seems to be up for anything I throw at it. If I had to go out in the rain, I stick electronics (including my laptop) in the roll-top compartment; the zippered section (which, I admit, could use a little more padding to buffer the impact on provides no protection from water. The inner liner has now worn thin at the seams and lets in water if I set the bag down in a puddle of water for a significant amount of time, but otherwise presents no problems.
It is true that the tapered mouth becomes an issue when trying to load the bag with a lot of stuff. I typically use the side-access section for my laptop, binders/notebooks, etc., while the main compartment is reserved for food, clothes, shoes, or my D700 (or all of the above).
Hoping to get another 4+ years out of it for grad school.

Almost An Everyday Bag

Review by Scott

This was my first Chrome bag that I got about 2 years ago now. It's a great bag if you just need to carry a few extra things around. A change of clothes, water, laptop, and keys or whatever. The main opening is a bit limiting on size when trying to fit larger items in. I find myself having to lay the bag down on it's back to angle things in the opening. It would be a perfect bag if the opening had a zipper down the side to allow for larger items to easily fit in as the main compartment is very roomy. It's def waterproof and durable so if that's a concern, it's covered there. It's a nice bag to have but could use a revamp on the opening section of the roll top.

Does the job

I've fallen with this backpack on and the scrapes on the bag are VERY minimal. I would say it's pretty durable.
