Tough Kicks

Our Forged Rubber™ Sneakers are the best city sneakers in the world. They're made by hand, one at a time, on 70-year-old machines we salvaged from Slovakia. The rubber is harvested from nearby rubber tree farms, fused directly on to our 12oz canvas upper at 300 degrees Fahrenheit, and will not delaminate—even at the flex point. We added our signature reflective heel and an antimicrobial sock liner with quick-dry contoured footbed for sockless summers and the occasional river crossing. Forged Rubber™ Sneakers look like sneakers, built like army boots.

Let me start with the Pros. I purchased these shoes as an alternative to the van's slip-ons. These shoes are more comfy, stylish and safety minded (eye-catching reflective bit at the heel area) compared the the vans counterpart. I wear slash cycle in these shoes [almost] everyday and the canvas is very durable.

But the rubber sole and tread is a real problem...the sole/tread (arguably one of the more important facets of an everyday shoe) is not durable. After a few months, the tread was bald. I have a couple other friends who own the shoe -- same sentiment. So when the ground is wet, these slip on shoes are great if you want to slip across stone pavements...in otherwords make sure you hold the handrails going up and down wet steps. I mean sure, you should be wearing waterproof boots in wet conditions, but you can't always plan for that. I hate to say it but the Vans waffle-cup bottoms are far superior than these soles.

Because the aforementioned reasons, I would not recommend these shoes if you plan on wearing these shoes in wet conditions (rain or post-rain). But for all other conditions, these shoes absolutely rock! And for that reason, I I hope Chrome upgrades the sole for future models of this shoe...then I will be a Dima Sneaker fan forever.

I was looking for a sturdier alternative to the more common checker board slip-ons I've been wearing for many years. I've always loved those other shoes for comfort, but it's annoying how quickly they start looking like junk. I'm sad to say the despite the claims that these are built like army boots, they are falling apart at the two month mark. There are several small holes in the top layer fabric of both shoes already where the fabric is unraveling. Then in the toe section of one, the rubber is starting to become delaminated, separating from the fabric upper. Honestly, they are comfortable and seems structurally sound for the most part, but two months in and these shoes are already being demoted to "junk shoes" because of the holes. I'm not optimistic at how they'll be at the 6 month or one year mark. I'd expect vans to already show some wear by now too, but these cost twice as much and made bold claims about sturdiness! I maybe only wear them about half the days I go out, and only when I'm just walking around running errands. I always wear boots for more rugged or messy activities, so these haven't taken too bad of a beating yet :(

    Comments about Dima Sneaker:

These slip ones are the best I have found but the elastic still breaks down too quickly. This is my second pair and I use them for my daily grind. I easily put about a mile on them both walking and biking daily and they last longer then most. The break in nicely and hold up better then others. However, I miss the lower south sides (my favorites), the mirko and the quickly disappearing ishaks (second favorite). I love that these have the forged rubber because it makes the shoes overall much better.

      Comments about Dima Sneaker:

I've been buying a new pair of vans slip ons every summer for years. This year I decided to give these a try. They're built way better than the vans and just as comfortable. I'm pretty sure that I won't be needing another pair of these next summer.

Just the shoe I was looking for. Super durable and can see these lasting for awhile. I needed a shoe that was a comfortable slip on but just enough support for when I'm out camping and don't necessarily want to keep tying laces when I'm getting in and out of my tent. These are now my casual camping shoes.

          Comments about Chrome Dima Sneaker:

These shoes are really comfortable. I love that they slide on and off easily and they have the reflective heel. I wear them pretty much everywhere.

My only complaint is that when i am riding my bike and it starts to rain they shoes slide around on the pedals like there is no tomorrow. It is a little more danger than I want riding down the road in my city.
